Split

Before the 17th century the emperor Diocletian decided to build a palace on the peninsula bellow the Roman city of Salona. The rest is history. The history of Split, whose whole historic centre and the Palace of Diocletian are on the UNESCO world heritage list, owes it to the well-preserved palace and the reason that both the palace and the city are still “alive”.

The visitors not only enjoy the magnificent architecture, cultural and historical sacral monuments but also get to treat themselves with high quality gastronomic offer and wines, and a special traditional coffee drinking ritual on the port of Split called “riva”. Split also hosts the Ultra Europe festival and is a “must see” destination for younger generations as well.
